Rights Training Series – Self-Direction
The Rights Training Series: Self-Direction is a three-part training designed by and for people with disabilities.
The curriculum is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the rights and responsibilities of people with disabilities.
Upon completion of this training, people will feel more confident in their rights and feel empowered to make choices and take control of the areas that impact them.
The content is introductory, and learning about rights should continue after this training, as it is a continuous journey.
Dates: October 16, 23 and 30, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day (must attend all three days)
Venue: Pulford Community Living – 1146 Waverley Ave. Winnipeg, MB
Getting Rights, Right! – Direct Support Professionals
Getting Rights Right is a full-day, interactive workshop that explores how direct support staff can turn rights from abstract ideas into everyday practice.
Together, we’ll look at the history and laws that shape disability rights, unpack what real choice and decision-making mean, and reflect on the barriers that still get in the way.
Through discussion and practical strategies, participants will learn how to support people with disabilities to take the driver’s seat in their own lives—balancing rights and responsibilities, navigating “grey areas,” and standing beside people as equal citizens.
Date: October 17, 2025
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m
Venue: Pulford Community Living – 1146 Waverley Ave. Winnipeg, MB
