LPG Lab – Supported Valued Social Roles
Abilities Manitoba’s Leading Practice Guidelines set out what high-quality services should look like for Manitobans with intellectual disabilities.
This fall and winter, senior leaders are invited to join a series of interactive two-hour online LPG Labs.
Each session will focus on one guideline area, explore what leading practice looks like, review ready-to-use tools and policies, and create space for leaders to share successes, challenges, and resources.
The goal is to help organizations strengthen their services and support people to live full, inclusive lives in their communities.
Date: December 4, 2025
Time: 1:30-3:30 p.m.
The event will be hosted via Zoom.
Getting Rights, Right! – Direct Support Professionals
Getting Rights Right is a full-day, interactive workshop that explores how direct support staff can turn rights from abstract ideas into everyday practice.
Together, we’ll look at the history and laws that shape disability rights, unpack what real choice and decision-making mean, and reflect on the barriers that still get in the way.
Through discussion and practical strategies, participants will learn how to support people with disabilities to take the driver’s seat in their own lives—balancing rights and responsibilities, navigating “grey areas,” and standing beside people as equal citizens.
Date: December 5, 2025
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Venue: Pulford Community Living – 1146 Waverley Ave. Winnipeg, MB
Community of Practice – Amplifying Voice
Join our ever-growing Community of Practice! Every person has something to say—our role is to make sure their voices are truly heard.
This session will give participants practical strategies to strengthen choice, control, and authentic engagement for the people they support.
Together, we’ll explore how to “be the microphone, not the voice,” learn simple approaches to expand participation in decision-making, and share tools that make supported.
Date: December 9, 2025
Time: 10-11:30 a.m.
The event will be hosted via Zoom.
